Dear Impact Star,
Let me tell you a funny story. Maybe you can relate?
Today, I explained my Magnetic Pitch Method as part of a brief intro at a networking event, and someone walked up to me later and said, "I didn't even know you did that…"
It inspired this email — I figured if he didn't know what Magnetic Pitch was, maybe you don't either?
The truth is most of us struggle to talk about ourselves and what we do.
A climate colleague, Ross Kenyon just shared on LinkedIn today about how he struggles with sounding like he’s ‘showboating’ when he posts what he’s up to.
Here was my response:
That should probably be the #1 Rule within the Magnetic Pitch Method:
Do something so incredibly useful that you’re wicked proud to share it.
If we’re not proud of the work we do and excited about its impact, how can we expect others to be?
So what is my Magnetic Pitch Method?"
Instead of cold calling or cold emailing hundreds of prospects, you craft a pitch that draws the right-fit funders, clients, partners… to YOU.
They’re pre-sold. Eager to start.
If and when you do have to call them, they've already heard about you, and are excited to take your call.
This isn't about moving slides around like deck chairs on the Titanic.
The Magnetic Pitch Method is an entire step-by-step methodical approach to strategic storytelling and selling.
Sounds simple? It’s not. We go through…
TARGETING: Who are you trying to attract like moths to a flame?
MESSAGING: Is your narrative making them weak at the knees?
CHANNEL STRATEGY: How are you reaching them (or better still) having them reach out to you?
Sometimes we go deep on why you’re getting radio silence.
Or how to turn your outreach efforts into inbound leads with a Whisper Campaign or a series of Mic Drop Moments.
We aren't just slapping a few eye-candy slides together and calling it a day.
Your funders, your buyers, your partners are smart. They can see right through a pretty deck without substance.
Ironically, by the end of Magnetic Pitch Method, you’ll able to close a deal or a sale even without slides.
In a car, in a bar, at an airport, on the phone.
Wherever.
Here’s the thing most people hate about Magnetic Pitch:
I have to kill a lot of darlings…
A pitch deck that cost thousands to design
A biz dev strategy that the CEO didn’t want to give up
An entire NFT project going nowhere (that one was brutal…)
Magnetic Pitch Method works BECAUSE it's so exacting.
The willingness to kill darlings (however painful it may be) is ultimately what separates the pros from the amateurs.
I will admit, it’s tough to do. Especially due to the Sunk Cost Fallacy: the more time, money, and resources we spend on something, the less likely we are to want to give up on it (even when we know it’s not working).
Magnetic Pitch Method can’t help you if:
You can't execute on the promise you're making in the pitch
You're selling something the market isn't interested in buying
The math doesn't math — I can't fix that — I wish I could!
Magnetic Pitch is perfect if:
You're tired of chasing prospects who show interest, then ghost you
You’ve got a compelling story but you struggle to tell it effectively
You don’t want to knock on 100 doors before you get a YES.
It doesn't matter what you're pitching and to whom you're pitching it — Magnetic Pitch Method works if you're open to doing things differently.
Whether you work with me to make your pitch magnetic or not, I hope you got some value from this post. If nothing else, I hope you examine if you’ve been hiding your light under a bushel?
It’s time to come out hibernation… Spring is here in NC - just look at next week’s highs. I can’t even! You know cold weather and I are not the best of friends.
Reply and tell me what you do and for whom you do it, so I can send the right fit clients, employees, partners, and funders to you if I come across them in my travels.
Warmest,
Neesha
P.S. Thanks to David Witzel as always for giving this a looksie and his insightful edits!
P.P.S. What do founders say about the Magnetic Pitch Method? Meet a few who’ve been through the process including Johanan, who warns you not to go through Magnetic Pitch Method unless you’re serious. I agree.
Legal stuff: Not financial advice. Talk to your advisors before doing anything.
